Seriously overdue to appear on a TM album, this was written in 1994 and never recorded until now. A funky R+B tune. Tip of the hat in the lyrics to both Dead Poets Society and Lux Aeterna by Morten Lauridsen, two pieces of art that continue to inspire me greatly.
lyrics
Life is a paradox
And it's troubling my fragile mind
It feels like the sun is getting farther and farther away
Life has me paranoid
Anxious and paralyzed
It feels like my heart is beating softer and softer each day
Be gone, J. Evans Comfort Zone
I'll find a way to solve and untangle
The lies and these illusions
And walk toward the source of Lux Aeterna
I wanna fly so free
Over the seen horizon
I wanna dance with you
The Keeper of Dreams
You hold the key
Once I was just a child
My domain was the magic realms
I traveled beyond the visible wardrobe doors
I'm like an exiled king
Often dead in this apathy
But never again will I fly this white flag and be a pawn
Be gone, J. Evans Comfort Zone
I'll find a way to solve and untangle
The lies and these illusions
And walk toward the source of Lux Aeterna
I wanna fly so free
Over the seen horizon
I wanna dance with you
The Keeper of Dreams
You hold the key

I played keyboards, fake horns, sang vocals, produced and mixed the tune. Christian Teele played drums and percussion and recorded those himself. Mel Brown played thunderous bass and recorded that himself. David Wallimann played electric guitar including that wonderful arpeggiated thing in the pre-chorus. Henning Wolf played killer guitar solos and some additional rhythm guitars in the choruses.
